KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia aims to lead the region in artificial intelligence (AI)-driven diagnostics, telemedicine, and holistic preventive care.
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib said the ministry rolled out the Total Hospital Information System (THIS) to 16 hospitals and the Cloud-Based Clinic Management System (CCMS) to more than 2,400 primary healthcare facilities.
"In addition, we expanded access to telemedicine and digital platforms, particularly in rural areas, while introducing AI-driven diagnostics and real-time data dashboards to monitor healthcare facilities," she said at the soft launch of Health Summit Asia (HSA) 2026 today.
She added that digital transformation was among the key priorities under the RM46.52 billion healthcare allocation in the 2026 Budget, representing a 2.76 per cent increase from the previous year.
"The ministry's vision is clear: to ensure a healthier Malaysia through equitable, accessible, and sustainable healthcare. Guided by the Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat, we are not just delivering care; we are building a resilient nation where every Malaysian can thrive," she said.
Hanifah said summits like HSA 2026 were vital.
"They provide the platform needed for dialogue on innovation, investment, and emerging technologies that will define our future. These foster partnerships that are essential to achieving our national agenda. Innovation is the heartbeat of our progress. HSA 2026 is uniquely positioned because it integrates wellness alongside traditional healthcare," she added.
Organised by Qube Integrated Malaysia, with Green Wellness Malaysia as co-organiser, the summit brings together two key industry platforms: the Southeast Asia Healthcare and Pharma Show and the International Wellness Expo.
"By combining these platforms, HSA 2026 aims to create a comprehensive hub for pharmaceutical care, disease prevention, and holistic wellness, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3, which focuses on ensuring good health and well-being for all," she said.
Scheduled from May 20 to 22, the summit will gather healthcare and wellness stakeholders to promote integrated and sustainable healthcare solutions across Asia.
It is expected to generate up to RM1.5 billion in commercial opportunities across the Asean healthcare and wellness market.
